Biography

Maia T. Spilman is an experienced transactional attorney focusing on information privacy/cybersecurity law and intellectual property. Maia is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.

Effective September 2018, Maia joined the Privacy/Data Protection Team of the EY Advisory Group in Amsterdam, NL.  While in private practice in New York City, Maia provided outside counsel services to technology, pharmaceutical, digital marketing, and entertainment companies. She also served as co-counsel to other law firms on privacy law related matters.

Her experience includes working as in-house counsel for INgrooves, a leading technology, and digital distribution company, and for BMG Music, a major record distribution company. She began her legal career as an associate at Selverne, Mandelbaum & Mintz, LLP; a leading New York City boutique entertainment law firm.

Maia co-chaired the Information Technology and Cyberlaw Committee of the New York City Bar Association and, was the Regional Chapter co-chair of her law school alumnae association.

Maia is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York, First Department and the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. She received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, MA and her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Fine Arts from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY.

Before attending law school, Maia worked as a broadcast journalist for radio and television news organizations in California, Texas and New York.
